The Society of Master Saddlers Competitions
February 2019 started well attending the SMS competition. I received a premium award in the Special Open Class for a pair of Dressage Stirrup Leathers. The Open Class was to make a Snaffle Dressage Bridle and my design included an anatomical headpiece, beaded shaped browband, a patterned leather inlay crank noseband and biogrip reins.
In 2018 I received a third prize in the Special Open Class for a Safety Handle/Grab Strap. The Open class was to produce an Iberian, Baroque, Ceremonial or Re-enactment bridle. For this I chose to make the Military Re-enactment Bridle which stood well against the other bridles for quality of workmanship.
In 2014 I received a Premium Award in the Special Open class for a Clincher Browband and also received a Premium Award in the Open Bridle for a Pony Show Double Bridle.
2011 Started well by winning two third prizes in the SMS Competition for a Heavy Hunter Double Bridle and a Part Harness Set.
2010 was also a successful year for me at the SMS Annual competition with a first for a Full Sized Dressage Double Bridle which included a diamonte browband & reins and also a third for an In-hand Shire Bridle complete with the bit and lead.
In February 2007 I entered the open class as a member in my own right and got third place for a 3/8" pony show double bridle with laced reins and a velvet ribbon browband. In February 2008 I entered the open plain double bridle suitable for a cob or hunter and was again placed third. In 2009 I entered a Lonsdale Stud Guard which was third and a Cross Country Bridle which gained a premium award.
Since February 2004 until 2006 for 3 years I have entered the Society of Master Saddlers annual saddlery and bridle competitions in the trainees bridle classes and have accumulated a fourth and two thirds. |
